My experience with ThreeZero Premium Scale was with their Megatron Last Knight figure, and I was blown away! It was huge, and it was greatly detailed. You can watch the other reviews to see its details. I needed to have Optimus Prime, and I picked its most recent outing. Sadly, the figure came with a good and a bad.
First is the good - it is everything I could hope for in an Optimus Prime premium figure. Amazing details, great articulation, and the size/proportions. It is a center piece in itself.
Now, the bad.
From the first time I unboxed it, small little pieces were falling off. They turn out to be parts of its knuckle digits. And after that, its' thumb joints keep falling off and they seem weak. I have to be very careful how I articulate them or else they'd just fall out.
Those things can be fixed by a little super glue, but my next gripe is the Ion Blaster.
So yes, it is amazing in it's size and detail ... and with that comes the weight and the problems with articulated fingers.
If I had one complaint about the ThreeZero Megatron, was that it was a lot of work to swap out weapons. It was an inconvenience then, but the Optimus Prime I got was a major inconvenience.
It came with an adapter piece, and god bless those youtubers because their figures held the blaster well in their reviews, but it was a nightmare with mine.
It took me more than an hour posing my figure because the Ion Blaster kept falling off, taking along the finger digits and parts of the finger digits with it. It took me a long time to pose it, and I was not even satisfied with the final pose (one that allowed Prime to hold the Ion Blaster in a cool pose).
I am not sure if I got a bad figure, but just the pure mechanism of how the weapon attaches to the figure (friction fit with little support), would lead to this kind of problems in the future.
I have to admit, my experience wasn't as good as the Megatron figure (although I thought the Megatron figure needed improvement, especially when weapon swapping). But my experience with Optimus Prime was a bit worse.
Would I recommend it? ... Only if you do not have a Premium Scale Optimus Prime figure yet. This is still a great figure, despite its problems.
Just remember though, it is a very expensive figure, and it is up to you whether you are willing to spend that much on a beautiful figure with minor and annoying quality issues. Or at least, you have a lot of free time and patience to pose the figure properly.
I would recommend yout to buy those AG-something batteries for the eyes to light up. They are well-worth it, since they are easy to turn on and off (unlike Hot Toys).
